Sag Harbor Real Estate

Much is known about the fast-paced, star-studded South & East Hamptons. Little is known, however, about the quiet upscale enclave of residences just north of the charming village of Sag Harbor, North Haven, and it seems its residents would like to keep it that way. In order to get to "the Havens" you must clear the gates and pass our bridge. Sag Harbor, home of artists, writers and a smattering of Europeans, is the only town in the Hamptons that is not directly on the highway, and truly keeps North Haven's access well guarded. (Unless you've decided to come from Connecticut via the North Ferry crossing through another well kept secret, Shelter Island).

From the bluff you can see the amazing colors of the sun setting over the New Hamptons and the unspoiled Noyac Bay. It's a bit of a wonder that North Haven and it's prestigious communitites West Banks and North Haven Point have been able to keep this area close as it was when first created. North Haven Village and its 750 year-round habitants live in one of the best kept secret areas.

Partly responsible for the maintenance of North Haven's low profile chic is the fact that no commerce is permitted anywhere in the entire area. Sag Harbor's marinas also help – vacationers in North Haven generally shy from busy weekend ocean beaches, and take to boating and water sports that were the hallmark of the North Shore Hampton's lifestyle years ago. Today North Haven's residents are those who have the means but not necessarily the high profile, and enjoy a short bike ride to Sag Harbor's low-keyed, boutiques, restaurants and ice cream shops.

Of course there are exceptions-- such as Christie Brinkley who with her husband, having recently purchased two adjoining waterfront lots in West Banks , is planning to build a large house on one of the 12 acre parcels. Nearby the old Palatine Monastery sold for over 9 million dollars, and a castle-like villa in the area sold for a mere 7.2 million. This makes the two remaining waterfront lots available at between 1.45M to 1.8M look like a bargain. Buffet, Kroft, and Stern also number in the recognizable inhabitants.

These high-profilers aside, if you are looking for a quiet spot where wildlife, peace and tranquility abound. . . and your investmen is sound. . . then SHHHH. . . you have just found it.
